Alex Trask

Alex Trask is a saxophonist and composer based in Pōneke. He is a staple of the jazz scene and can be seen playing anything from bebop to fiddle tunes around town any day of the week. His newest compositions blend folk melodies with free jazz aesthetics, first featuring on a successful North Island tour on February 2023, on which Pool Of Tears was recorded. As a saxophonist he regularly performs nationwide, and has appeared at the Wellington Jazz Festival and the National Jazz Festival many times, as well as on countless gigs in Wellington ranging from duos to the celebrated TRASKFORCE octet. Professionally, Alex is a member of the Royal New Zealand Air Force band, is often seen playing with the Rodger Fox Big Band, and teaches at many schools around town.
